Powder Power: A Better Alternative than Johnson and Johnson

Powder Power: A Better Alternative than Johnson and Johnson

“The Enemy is working 24/7 to cull the population and he will use all of us to do it. We have to be wise today…”– The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan (The Time and What Must Be Done Part 36)

“Baby Powder is asbestos free,” Johnson & Johnson said in a lawsuit in 1999. Yet here we are 29 years and hundreds of lawsuits later discovering that J&J lied about the presence of a carcinogenic substance called asbestos that contaminated its talc that has been in its baby powder products since the 1970’s. Three independent studies that they hid revealed this death blowing secret with one independent study reporting that they had found levels that were ‘rather high’ according to an article in the Washington Post. Recent lawsuits since the 2000’s against the giant company accuse their popular asbestos infested talcum baby powder of causing ovarian cancer.

Asbestos has a long latency period of 20 years before it manifests as an actual health challenge, making it difficult for many to pinpoint it as a root source of different cancers. It is a naturally occurring mineral and thus discovering it in talc mines is not out of the ordinary. This is why people who did not work in industries that exposed them to asbestos, yet medical exams revealed it in their cancerous tumors made it difficult for Johnson and Johnson to refute that use of talcum powder played a mutual role.

So how can one protect oneself from such hazardous substances in their personal care products? The best way is just like food, only consume/use products with fewer and recognizable ingredients. There is a saying that ‘If you can’t eat it then you shouldn’t put it on your skin.’ With that being said there are many alternatives to talcum-asbestos infested powders. Other options include powders made with clays or starches such as tapioca or arrowroot (both of which are great replacements for cornstarch).

This is one of the reasons why we created Powder Power, an all natural hand crafted and custom made powder line that uses nature based ingredients (bentonite clay, tapioca, arrowroot and essential oils). Arrowroot, normally used as a sauce thickener, has multiple benefits. It can act as a digestive aid by reducing abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation; boost immune function and even help address symptoms of UTIs (Urinary Tract Infections) by reducing flare ups. Tapioca is also known for being friendly to the guy and aids in lowering inflammation and is a great absorber of moisture as well. The various clays (green, bentonite, kaolin) are all excellent toxin adsorbers and fit beautifully into any body/baby powder blend. Combined with therapeutic essential oils or nontoxic fragrant oils creates a soothing and refreshing product that literally leaves talcum powder eating its dust!

In an era where many are going back to simplicity for improving their livelihood, using more simple personal care products that are not being mass produced by companies that see the dollar as their bottom line and not the well-being of the consumer is becoming a necessity! Why not give Powder Power a try!
